Painted My Grille Inserts and Headlight Ring

Postby rebel horseman » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:54 am

It was a pretty day today so I decided to do something productive outside. I removed the grille from the old girl cause it was looking a little worn. I decided to paint the four grille inserts and both of the headlight trim rings in a flat black scheme to go with the black wheels and copper paint. Here are the results.

And yes I know the grille surround is cracked. Haven't been able to find one in a junk yard and don't feel like shelling out the money for a new one cause I'm a cheap skate.

Fish,

The headlight rings before they were painted were a silverish-gray color. Looked terrible and the paint was flaking badly. The grille inserts were black originally but they too were flaking off badly. Here are some more pics.

Yeah mine too. That's probably my biggest gripe about the truck is that it's a 2wd. But it's surprisingly good off road nevertheless.

I painted my grille inserts metallic black they look nice i jsut screwed up and forgot the headlight rings. a dishwasher does a real good job of prepping them aside from a bit of sanding, got all the bugs and gunk off effortlessly.
