SLIDING BACK GLASS

Postby BEARKILLER » Fri Jun 29, 2007 3:25 am

The #4 truck has a sliding back glass.

The son's truck doesn't and he wants to trade.

I have swapped these rear glasses around in old Chevrolet trucks, several different times.

Does the same method apply to swap the glasses in the Dodge??

I know that to INSTALL, I wrapped a greased string around the rubber seal and pulled the string inside the cab, while someone outside held the glass against the rear.

I don't really remember what I did to get a glass started OUT.

Please walk me through this and refresh my memory.

Thanks.

There's a retainer molding you have to pull out first, then you can just push the glass out.

JC Whitney sells new sliders, I put one from them in my '85. Makes a huge difference in the airflow through the cab.

Unless you are hauling hay or something light weight and loose! Then it ends up in the cab with you!

Very true. If my truck's been parked under a tree, or I've hauled anything loose (like mulch ir chips) I run 'er at 75 mph for a couple miles to clear the bed out before opening the window.
