Not 100% sure but I think the core support is different

the 93 has a intercooler, half way through 91 they put those in, to fit them they had to change the radiator support, which is the grille support/ radiator support. so unless someone has gotten an old grille to fit with a intercooler off a 1st gen i think it would be easiest to get a non intercooled grille support and do a 2nd gen intercooler conversion.

You need to change the valance by the windshield if you change the hood.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

yeah it would be a lot of work just for the look. if it was easy i know i would definitely have a 78 grille on my truck cause i love those marker lights on that year.

Will the hood latch from a 93 bolt up to a bird bath hood, or would it require some modification? What about the hinges? My '74 's hood opens with an external latch..

If you use the birbath hood with any core support after 1980, the hood latch loop needs to be moved over @ 3/4" to the passenger's side.
You also SHOULD put nuts on the backside of the loop, in the hood understructure, as the new location isn't reinforced properly for the loop and is single tin thickness, so the bolts will pull out.
The safety catch location is, I believe, the same clear though to 1993 (Dangit, I have to go look now!).
As mentiond, you will need the cowl/wiper screen.
You also should change the wiper pivots, as the later pivots are taller, but the later ones just sit higher.

If you're doing it with an INTERCOOLED radiator, the radiator cap and both shroud tabs will hit in the section of understructure directly above the radiator, I just scalloped out the structure at all 3 points.

Here's the "Birdy" hood and cowl screen installed on my old Carhauler:

It's really not that hard of a job. Did most of it in an evening. I used a 1979 quad headlight but still the same job. Little drilling of spot welds and some grinding/ welding.
