Turn signal lever

Postby shiftycapone » Thu Feb 10, 2011 12:57 am

Where does one find a replacement for a 1990? I can only find them for 91+ trucks, as it seems the column changed as well into the model used in the 2nd gens.

Also, anyone know where the hazard light switch is? I cannot find it for the life of me. Anyone else out there with an 89-90 that uses a GM ignition key? Column looks like one out of an 80's chevy, did Dodge just borrow parts from GM? I have looked up other 89-90's cummins and they use the same style column and ignition, just wondering though. As always, thanks!

Both my 89's took a 1 sided dodge key upside down. ( teeth up ) The later trucks had the double sided key. As far as parts, dealer, junk yard I supose.

I see. I'm thinking the original owner had a key made by a GM dealer possibly, as the key is one sided. Although the teeth point down in the ignition. Weird.

Thanks! Yeah not cheap, found some good stuff at the junkyard out of an 89 gasser, gonna see if the signal lever will work. If not I will deal with my sloppy one for now and keep searching!

I made my own lever out of a plate of aluminum with an NPT pipe tapped into it.

I put a O-ring around the twisty wiper control arm so it wouldn't rattle against the inside of the pipe. I then put a piece of canvas into the hole and wrapped up the control arm and pipe with hose repair tape.

I went to the junkyard to find a good one... I found about 10 levers, and they were all broken in the same way.
