Well, its up and running.

Image

It did take a bit to get it going, the NOS pump I put on had the fuel cut way back, I had to turn it in a lot to get it to fire up. Now the issue at hand is that I cannot get this thing dialed you in. It feels like a rubber band when it takes off from a stop. You can flat foot it, and a few seconds later it will take off hard. I feel like its not getting enough fuel, I can get the pyro up to only 950 degrees and 24 psi of boost. No smoke what so ever. At this point, the fuel screw is maxxed out. Dunno. Been playing around with the throttle indexing, one position it runs out ok, idles at 1000 rpms with the idle screw backed out, but has 3/4 travel, as it stops internally. The next position back, the idle screw is 3/8" out, has full throttle travel, but is sluggish. This is where it is set at now. Its a big enough turd, that I have to give it quite a bit of throttle on a 2nd gear take off, so it won't die.

What are y'alls thoughts?

Is your slide pin moving in and out like it's supposed to be?

AFC is working, checked the slide pin and its working like it should. Driving it, I can feel the fuel come up when the AFC comes in.

I dunno. Yesterday it had 18 lbs, today 7. Still should be more than enough. Gonna put a new filter on anyways...

Not all pumps are created equal! Have you done any afc grind work or governor spring in the nos pump?

I put a 366 spring in it and a non-ic pin in it also. When I compared the pins, the non-ic pin was deeper. Might grind on the pin a bit tomorrow...

Ya........but something seems off somewhere. 26 psi with marine 370s......pumps not pushing a whole lot more than stock fuel.

Just a question.....don't flame me :D.......do you think you've got the keyway half and half on pump and gear. It's VERY easy to do,I've managed it twice.....

Ellis, not sure what you mean....?
RC, it ran hard just once, smoked like a coal fired steam traction engine...now it's doggy and clean as a whistle.

Ok............so it moved fuel and now it don't.

Leads me to believe.........fuel filter, afc pin, possible throttle travel mishap, uh..........let me keep thinking.

Ellis means maybe the timing slipped. Which if it actually slipped would mean it would of slipped retardedly (he he) and would cause it to smoke even more.

Now that I understand it ran good at one time ignore my post. I meant you can split the key in two with the keyway on the gear.

You've got supply issues, your pressures say so.....I went back and reread your other posts.....down to 7psi from whatever, somethings up

I didn't think too much of the reading I was getting on the gauge, it kept leaking after the isolator, got some air in it, so I wasn't trusting it. Gonna put a new strainer, and fuel filter on it, and re-bleed the gauge lines. What gets me is I had to crank this pump way up just to get the thing to lite off, and then had about three turns til the fuel screw was maxed out....

Ok, checked the fuel pressure gauge isolator first, it was not set right, as the diaphragm inside was not set since I had a leak on the gauge side of it. Got it reset And bled both sides of air, and now the gauge is reading 20 psi. Took it out for a quick run, no change.
