my truck

Here are some pictures of my truck. It started as a cross between a 92w250,a 70w200 power wagon, and a 68d100 adventurer. I cut the 92 and 70 cabs across the top of the firewall and down both sides of the trans tunnel. Using the column, dash, wiring, plumbing, running gear, and hvac from the 92 and the outer skin from the 70 with the rest of the sheetmetal from the 68. I made my own cab mounts using 10 guage steel and urethane cushions. I sat the firewall back into the cab about 2 inches to gain clearence for the intercooler and ac condenser in front behind the grill. The firewall sits just about where it was in relation to the frame and engine. I married the radiator support from both trucks in a way to use the 92's workings and be able to use the sheetmetal from the 68(68 and 70 are the same body style "sweptline"). I added a 4inch Diamond Eye exhaust into the mix. I have tons more info and pix but don't want to bore any more than I have. I have tried to make it as factory appearing as possible. I am very happy with the way it is turning out. Thanks for looking, Rocky

I started on it 8/1/2010. My origional plan was to use all the cab mounts from the 92 but the previous owner was a 500+ pounder and the floor and bottom were too far gone. I measured it up and it would have worked out pretty close but, I had to get a lot more involved than I thought I would thus, since I had so much time in it I decided to go ahead and paint and finish it a little nicer. The front axel had to be moved forward 3 inches and the rear 6 inches. In the front I had St. Louis Spring Co make me a custom set of springs with the tie bolt in the right spot and added about 4-5 inches of lift, so the front dif would clear the engine crossmember. In the rear I used the front spring hanger from the 68 as the rear hanger and used the spring and front hanger from a 98 GMC 3/4 ton with the GM shackle flipped for suspension. It's a much longer more supple spring and helps with the ride alot, and gets me the lift I needed to match the front w/out the block. I intend to add some big air bags to help with payload. I am waiting on the seat to be recovered so I can get it inspected. It is going to be my daily driver within the next few weeks. It is replacing a 2002 F350 psd. I'm tired of the fly by wire computer type of vehicles. I'm trying to make this truck run and perform as good as my chipped power stroke. I'm glad you like it, thanks for the props, Rocky

Not to be an @ss but I can put good money down your PS aint chipped. It either has a box, downloader, or someone (a tuner) sitting in the passenger seat with a computer.

You are right, I just meant it in a general way, It has a flash programmer. I stand corrected  Rocky

As a "some what serious auto tech" here in BFE I can tell you there are a few people that feel the same as you on the newer stuff. Me I like it, as long as its not a 6.0 ford. It makes for great pay checks and a growing shop. I personal will never own a fly-by-wire vehicle, yes I know every thing is that way. I refuse to have that little dead spot in the go peddle and I don't want my truck to cut power on me because there is a 4% difference in the APP sensors(ie Chevy). What if you had to merge in heavy traffic and it did that. Totally stupid idea.

I'm driving down the road, beautiful mourning, minding my own business( a real chore for me ). My truck dies like you turned the key off. 200 miles from home, places I NEED to be, Ok have it towed to the nearest FOMOCO dealer. Less than 3 hours later, almost THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS later it starts up and I'm only a little too late for my meeeting. It seems one of the three factory computers ( pcms, ecms. control modules, ect....) decides to eat itself and one of it's cellmates. I'm more of a peck on it with channel locks, bailing wire, duct tape, hose clamp, or jumper wire kinda guy. Rocky

Lots of CR's have left people at dealerships far from home spending alot of money too. Just happened to a friend of mine. He didnt know better.

I have the Dodge pile liscened and insured. It runs out really good the AC blows cold and the overdrive works :D . I took it to a local car show last weekend and intered in the unfinished class, there were at least 12 entries and I got 3rd place. A lot of folks looked it over and seemed to appreciate the work and effort I put in it. I still need to paint the bed and hood, add the rear air bags and gooseneck hitch. The truck seems to be working out like I planned and I am looking forward to maybe making it to Scheids deal in August. Wish me luck. Rocky
