Not what I was wanting to see at all. Hopefully the insurance will cover it.

Jon, glad nobody got hurt! Too bad about the truck. On the other hand, plastic is just extra weight! You didn't show the other side, is it too far gone to fix? A harness and some paint maybe? Hope everything works out for ya.

Pete, the other side isnt bad. Since I am now at a computer instead of my phone, I have more pics.

The plastic deal is a bummer though. Every piece was perfect except the part above the rear window. I was hoping to sell it as a set.

Pheonix might be its name if I ever rebuild. I have half a notion to sell the drivetrain and install the engine into the Suburban.

This was a ride I had for a few months before I got the current truck. Sold it to my brother. Except for the driver tail light and passenger window, it's fine. Of course, the only vehicle insured on that pad.

Besides all the plastic stuff, it appears that it is salvageable....

It doesn't look bad to me. Was your truck not insured?

Looks like every plastic piece can be replaced...except that old school dash gauge pod, those can be a little tough to find...

No, i just dropped it to build it. My insurance agent suggested I get something but I turned it down. My fault and stupidity.

At least it didn't burn like the van next to it.

sorry to see that it got melted.

now it can be a good drag truck! you don't need need many wires, and losing all that weight will help!

Well, it was sold. I bought another. My keeping it stock madness has been cured.

Now for version 2.0

I've added tractor hydraulic trans fluid when I replaced my rear main seal. This tightened up the converter quite a bit. That and adjusting the bands inside the trans has brought life back to this transmission. I'm going to adjust the front band later after my nap.

I had 2 snapped lugs on a rear wheel. Pulled the drum and a couple things fell out that shouldn't have. I gave it new hardware and adjuster set. Now no more grinding noise when I back up. Interestingly enough, someone has put in 3" shoes and bigger brake cylinder on that side.

Now my first bracket race series is tomorrow. This series has 8 races between now and November. Winner and runner up in points gets sent down to Indy to rep my local track. So $500 to win a race and $1500 to win national? Yes please.

One final thought: I miss my Getrag. Both I have owned were awesome trans. They both shifted fast and I may source another one for this truck. I have some slick shift mods and rail mods to see if these can shift faster. Couple that with a Valair street triple... :alien: :cheese:

It's on my old computer. It's has since died. These mods are more for racing than street driving.

Look up "slick shift" and anything Mopar related. It was a factory option behind Hemi's with 4spds. The synchros were missing teeth.

The idea is like this:

You have to mesh the synchro teeth. Let's say you have 36 teeth 10* apart. You have 10* to engage the synchro. You want open your window of chance for hitting that pocket. So you take out 2 out of 3 teeth. You have now opened up your window of hitting that tooth to 30* of rotation. It hits harder but because now that you have slack behind the synchro teeth, you let off the gas slightly to take the pressure off the synchro. Doing so allows a nearly no clutch shift. You release pressure and slam into the next gear.

This increases synchro wear as it has to speed up the gears quicker.
