AMC Rambler swap

Postby ljenkins » Tue Aug 18, 2015 9:44 pm

I have a 1962 AMC Rambler wagon I'd like to swap a VE 12 valve and a 47RH(?) into. I think it would be a neat build and I think rat rod style with a fender dump. Not sure on the trans I want to run yet, I don't really want to cut a hole in the floor due to it being a rust free survivor. I haven't started anything yet and I'm just gathering ideas for the time being. Kind of a get the stone rolling type of thread I guess. I want to go non intercooled and (hopefully) keep it as simple and painless as possible. I know I will need to find a donor truck and that always sucks, tearing apart a first gen for something else, but I really like re-powers. Any comments would be appreciated and I will get pics up of the car after I start a thing on a host website. Also I will keep posting on progress, but it'll be slow due to me being a truck driver and not having a lot of spare time on my hands.
Thanks all!!

My only thought is......it there enough room to fit the thing in there.....hood to engine cradle/crossmember? I'm certain there's enough nose(length)

These are tall motors....so you would likely have to re-design the cross member. steering etc. Also you tranny choices will be limited to the available adapter plates. But still can't see it going in without some firewall, floor, tunnel modifications.
