old power wagons ?

Postby jethro » Thu Feb 04, 2016 11:55 pm

Are there any "secret" sources for 1960's power wagons ?
I think our fire department still operates some they have had since new. They have little water tanks on the back and a wide front bumper where they mounted a water nozzle. They use them to drive into the swamps and flood plains here when there are brush fires. They try to put out the fires when they are small but where they cant drive a big fire truck.
I am surprised they have not replaced them. But I suppose they may have very little mileage on them. They look like early
1960's models.

are there many left around or are they hard to find a good one not rusted out..... ?

Craigslist is your friend on that one. It really depends on what Power Wagon you want...Sweptline, WM/WDX (flat fender), M37, Power Giant, etc. There are Power Wagon specific websites out there too. I've been to Vintage Power Wagons in Fairfield IA, quite impressive on the amount of NOS and good used parts...spendy, but where else is there? They have some trucks for sale too. I'd love to have an ex Air Force 1970-1971 W300. Factory Braden winch with brushguard, 9' stepside bed, 4.88 gears with a wide block 202hp 318
