ideas to damp out single mass flywheel noise ?

Postby jethro » Sun May 01, 2016 11:39 pm

Is there any clever ways to help damp out manual trans noise after conversion from dual mass to single mass fly-wheel ?
(ford zf-6 and 12 valve cummins-)
From what i have read the ZF trannys dont tollerate changes to the oil viscosity too much..... and that was the
only thing I could think of .......

I've heard the Fluidamper (or the like) is good for fixing that. I've no experience with that though.

Thanks BC-

Do mean that there is an aftermarket damper that has more damping capacity ? (more going on)
than the stock ones.....

I have seen some for 500 $ but they dont say much about what they are or if they are different----

The Fluidamper that BC mentioned is an aftermarket high end damper. I've read that it cancels out vibrations really well, and yes, it costs close to $500 IIRC. Genos Garage has them, but I'm sure they are in Summit, E-Bay and all over.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
