Serviced the trans tonight. Fluid and filter. Adjusted the bands and increased the line pressure a little. Really crisped up popping it in gear. Can't wait to see how it shifts.

Also put the wiper linkage back together. I really should have done that before I installed the cab. Would've been a lot easier.

Is it possible to reverse the wiper linkage? The driver side arm hits the bottom in park and pushes out over the outer upper edge when wiping. the passenger wiper barely overlaps the driver wiper path.

I think it was time to change the filter. Almost done servicing it.

I borrowed dad's decibel meter today. Because of the cabs delapidated state, I couldn't get a before reading. At 55 mph, dry roads and 30 mph winds it reads 70 decibels. I still have the passenger side door panel off and I may do a little more to the back of the cab and above the headliner for sound control. Interestingly, it was noisier higher in the cab than at seat height. Also noisier by the door glass, but I expected that. Just comparison sake dad checked his 05' this morning same speed and conditions his is about 68.5 decibels. Both trucks are straight piped. I'm running a non overdrive non lockup auto, so I reckon if I ever convert to an overdrive trans it should be just as quiet as the 05'. Needless to say, I'm very pleased.

On a separate note. I changed the rear differential oil tonight about a half hour after I drove it and the differential was mildly warm to the touch. Roughly 70 degrees.

Is that normal?

Edit: btw 55 decibels at idle in mine.

Mat the sound level would drop if you threw a OD trans into the truck. At 60 MPH your turning about 2k RPM with your current trans. With a Auto OD at 60 MPH the engine would be turning around 1650 RPM. Less RPM is always quitter with our engines.

I have no doubts about that! My plan is to start watching for a manual trans and do a swap down the road.

O'Reilly has them. Ask them for their disco fastener book.
