Wow! You guys must be sleeping....no flamer comment on the pic. Anyways, need advice. Like I said I got it runnin but this thing smokes REALLY bad. White smoke. Not coolant (no rad in truck yet). Adjusted all valves int- .010, exh- .020. No charger hooked up yet.Does this at all rpms. More with more revs. I did take the injectors apart for cleaning but thought I was real careful to keep each part with the right injector but, now I think I must have screwed that up. Sound about right? If you think its the injector(s) Im ready to buy a set. Would the sdx 2 be a clean injector thats still not so small that it wont work with my twins? Not looking for mega power here...this is more of a towing setup.

Checked the temp Near manifold gasket today and found #2 and #6 to be much colder than the rest. Ordered SDX II today. Hope I'm right. Feedback.......please!!

I figured I'd let the flamer comment slip by this time, I'm not always an a-hole. (i'll get crap about that!)
When you say "no charger", you mean no turbo? It will smoke like that, not enough air, and worse with higher rpms! The temp check on the manifold says there is a problem there too.

I have never had an injector apart, but for sure you need to put the same shims back in, and I would say they should be checked if you want to run them. I think your SDX choice may help out. You may have a couple injectors thats frigged.

No charger. Have not built the tubes yet, but wouldn't it run black not white?

I humbly need a little schooling here. The only other diesel I have owned was a 6.5 I put into a built solid axle S-10. Before I found the Banks sidewinder kit (in a salvage yard for only $100  ) the 6.5 smoked black much worse than after the turbo. This is where my black/white smoke confusion comes from. I thought white was unignited and black was not completely combusted. :?:  Please educate me.

If the engine is cold it will be more white than black. The injector issue will make it even more white. Otherwise you are correct, if you blow a turbo boot or something like that where you are loading the engine it would be black.

Now I got it. Thanks. Injectors should be in next week. I hope that at least makes it run well enough to drive in and out the shop. If it still smokes some I wont worry about it 'til its all together and I can get some heat in the motor. I'm trying to make this wife friendly...What do you think about using a glow plug controller to heat the grid heater?

By controller I'd guess you'd be asking about the IDI style? If you are, IMHO, don't waste the money. The aftermarket ones are short lived.
I think you could take the relays and turn them on with a push button.

push button is in fact the easiest, I recomend keeping the relays in but runnin your own signal wire, the IDI style relays are pretty much junk, you wont have a problem making it wife friendly, its just once they learn to like it and then they start putting their air freshners and yelling at you for making your own truck dirty...thats when it becomes a problem :D
