Isuzu diesels?

Postby dazedandconfused » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:05 am

Anybody know anything on the little cab over NPR trucks? I have acess to a 4 cylinder diesel out of one I'm thinking about sticking in my tahoe since 4bt cummins are stupid money.

I have worked on two, they seem to be good little runners. Most places that own them seem to run them into the ground, the two that I worked on had little maintenance done for a very long time, the only moderate repairs was one schucked a injection pump and the other a turbo. Other than that, decent engines in my book.

Well I'm wondering if it will mount to my gm trans? Not sure if the adapter plate on it has that bolt pattern. I'm not a big fan of the duramax myself. These have little rotary pumps and that apeals to me. I think it would be a nice fit in my tahoe if I can get him to sell them cheap enough.

It's a very popular conversion engine. You can find over 800 conversion and some adapter source discussions at:

I have a box truck with one in it. It goes nice, but has just over 110 k so it should. Its not a power house, but for what you want it will be good. I think mine is around a 120 horse turbo motor. Its got some 4 speed auto behind it. Never done a thing to it but change the oil.

We've got them around here. Seem to be fairly decent motors but like Mr RichieO said they're not power houses. It might move your land yacht ok tho.

It can't be any worst then a 6.5. I think with a little tweaking it would be a decent family ride. It cruises 75 mph now at 2000 rpm so shouldn't get gear bound with the little diesel.

No it surely won't!
How are you gonna keep the 4L60e to keep the Rpms where they're at

I have a 4l80e full manual sitting at the farm I could use. I'm just not a fan of the gms. I may just get the engines if they are cheap enough and stick in the barn. I have a 2wd chevy s10 blazer I could use as well. My old man gets these things and gives them to me because he doesn't want them and usually gets them for a 100 bucks or some horse trading. I'd like to have a old bronco or ramcharger.
