Turbocharging a small diesel engine worth it?

Postby 1992gen1_fan » Mon Jul 09, 2012 7:24 pm

I have a Kioti dk45 tractor. It has a 2.2L non-turbo 4cyl IDI diesel. Would a small turbo be worth adding for a little extra power? The tractor is a good running machine and has fair power, but as we all know with diesels the difference in pulling a hill with and without a turbo are big. There might be alot more work to turbocharging an engine than it is worth, what you think of the idea? ;)

Well worth it! Lots of guys turbo their Gators, Zero turn mowers, compact tractors, and stuff like that.
If it ain't smokin' it's gotta be broken!

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I think there is a turbo for a Kubota called IHI and can be had for under 2 Franklins...
