Truck showed up with a dead pedal and p2122 and p2121 codes to boot. Bought a sensor,replaced it,set the thing to the proper voltage and away I went for a test drive.....it's fixed,or is it

Mofo comes back and it's owner says it's still doing it.....BS ain't no way. Whip out the ol snap on scanner and I come back with a p0148 and a p0088.
p0088 pressure rail -pressure high. p0148 fuel delivery ...

So I take it down the road monitoring the data and when crowding it you can watch the fuel rail set psi and what the psi sensor is actually seeing is the same then all of a sudden the actual psi just falls out to like 2200psi when it should be like 21k.
So ol Ellis says to himself" this thing is running out of fuel" and throws an O'Reilly supply pump in it. We'll guess what that does......makes it twice as bad. It'll actually kill itself and will be a bear to crank back.

I know it's a really bad replacement part now but now I'm doubting myself.

Those that have fooled with them does this seem like the right path?

Put the original LP back on and then pull the hose off the pressure relief valve. Plug the hose and start the truck, there should be NO fuel coming out of the fitting the hose was on. If so, the rail relief is bad. You can get a whole rail with a sender and relief valve from Geno's almost as cheap as the relief alone. The other thing is maybe it is sucking air or the suction is starving for some reason. You put on new a fuel filter right?

Fixed it. Garbage supply pump, got another from O O O O'Reilly's and replaced the damn fuse for it and now everything is golden.
Nothing like aftermarket parts.

Airtex or precision?

Precision. First bad one I've had from that line,and I've installed a lot. I actually had good luck out of the airtex stuff when they had them.
It's man made....who knows


Jeff how many do you see come back in that store,and are y'all offering the lifetime warranty with fuel filter purchase?

Not very many! Some of the airtex stuff was questionable. I think they varied manufactures on that brand. I put a precision pump in one of my neons, and it had walbro markings all over it just like the factory pump. Local mechanic has a 03 common rail and he had similar symptoms of you what you describe. He bought a precision lift pump and it solved his problem...the first time lol.

And yes theres a lifetime warranty if you buy the filter. The computer will ask when you buy it if theyre getting a filter. I always hit yes even if they refuse the filter, unless theyre a Dick. Then I will go out of my way to inconvenience them.
