Has anyone converted the external lift pump to an In tank and is there power and ground back there already or do I have to switch wires around. I did see that there is 4 wires back there already.

Dodge sells a harness that uses the oem external pump power and ground to trigger a relay in that harness to supply power back there. They tap into the truck harness connector that is hidden behind the driver side plastic wheel well, in between the plastic and cab fire wall. The harness instructions show which pin in the connector to tap into.
FWIW and IMHP I'd go to autozone and get an external pump made by airtex before fooling with an in tank. It'll push close to 20lbs with a good free flowing fuel filter.

well the problem is.....He is running with out a bed (3500 cab and chassis) and the oem fuel module dry rotted from being out in the sun....I called dodge and all they can get me (or says the parts woman) is the conversion one for over 500 bucks....I can get one of those at Oreillys for 237. I've made 4 calls and 3 trips to Oreillys because the parts women and a guy that shouldn't be in parts wouldn't tell me that it was a conversion and that is the only one they could get me.

The kid bought a new carter external fuel pump and I ran the truck out of a gallon jug to make sure it would run because he told me the injection pump was bad. Then I found the tank bad, and now all I can seem to find is the conversion pump. so I'll either run both pumps or try to gut the conversion pump.

gas module would still have the pump in it. I've thought about a junk yard but haven't had a chance to call about it yet. Luckily for me the kids not in a hurry.

I'm using an old gas unit on my RC, gutted all the gasser stuff off of it and just ran 1/2" tube to the bottom of the stock bowl setup with a 90* bulkhead at the top.

Same setup will suck clear down to empty on the old Dodge.

Unless sending unit and "module" are two different things.

same thing pretty much, I'm hoping to keep the stock fuel lines because I really don't want to run fuel line and all that crap since its not mine. Plus he's thinking about selling it so the more stock it looks the better.

Module is the whole assembly that you pull out of the tank. Sending unit is for the gauge and is attached to the module. Behold, a useful post by me!

except when you tell the gal at oreillys that you need the module she looks at you funny but once you say fuel sending unit she will then tell you...you can't get the fuel sending unit with out getting the pump....I say mine doesn't have a pump and then she's all sorts of confused.

Yeah I remembered that after I kind of ranted lol.....They pissed me off with this whole deal that could have been avoided in the first place....made extra trips into town and they told me the wrong price also, so I got charged 40 bucks more than what I was told and they wouldn't do anything about it.
