Postby Diesel Dan » Fri Jan 02, 2009 8:21 pm

Hey well on new years at the bar i was with my buddies and got to drive them home in the ones power stroke.

play with my buddies power (s/j)troke for a hour ride home from Richmond.
sure twist my arm and dont bother asking again:D

he has a edege chip and a 5 inch exhaust on it and im sorry to say that i think i ran halfway decent other then the ford 6 speed
i love the pattern but the shifts don't feel right

i do have to say it is a pretty truck cuz he doesn't like to scratch it

Image

well other that that i think i have confessed all my ford sins
(me kinda likin it and such)
but no worries ill never go to the dark side

other then that we had a great night and for once i played

Yeah, 6 speeds take a little getting used to. I'm still trying to learn how to drive the new IH service truck, weird, I can't hit 3rd 1/2 the time.

The 6.0 fords run real strong, I've ridden in my buddies. They just have a lot of issues.

yea same here i could only hit third correctly 3/4 of the time

weird spacing

they shift a little harder/roughter then i thought it would being newer

but still i wont argue it was fun to run the crap... i mean drive it home responsibly

I actually wouldn't mind having a 7.3 Powerstroke. If I ever get a Ford diesel, it will be a 7.3 turbo IDI though. Don't see that happening though...

I don't know. I used my brother-in-laws 7.3 last summer to haul my tractor to the pulls (about 10k lbs tractor and trailer together) and it just didn't do as good at the one cummins that I used one other time. just didn't have the bottom end grunt to get up the hills. we will see how mine does this summer :D

I noticed that too. At work we got an 05 F550, and I drove it for a couple years. My dodge loaded will pull better from 1000rpm than the 550 empty. Less than 1700 or so, you better shift down, cause you ain't gonna make it! V-8's suck! ;)

I agree. My 05 F350 with the 6.0 has no "grunt" in the bottom end. With a drag race tune above 2500 is another story, but that is not what I bought it for. Driving my uncles 02 24valve, when it would shift into overdrive on the highway it would start to accelerate without moving the pedal. I was really disapointed that my Powerstroke won't.
