VP44 and Fuel pump

Postby DIESELCHICK » Sat May 19, 2007 8:43 pm

I own an '02.........need I say more. I am fixing to place an order to fix the VP44 and fuel pump problems and just wanted to see if any of ya'll see anything I'm missing or have any better ideas. I'm ordering a FASS high-pressure fuel pump, fuel, exhaust gas temp. and transmission temp. gauges...............and the service manual just in case. The VP44 and the fuel pump are working now but the sensor is warning me not enough fuel is getting to the VP. We have checked the lines and changed fuel filter twice just to be on the safe side. I am not driving her because I don't want to have to replace the VP again (just replace VP and fuel pump 6 months ago.) Thank you in advance for any advice or prayers!!!

Don't forget a boost gauge! If you don't tow, I wouldn't bother with the trans temp. My .04! (my opinions are worth more! :D )

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

PToombs thanks! My husband is planning on towing a toy hauler with at least 1 harley in it, so should we keep with the trans. temp or the boost? or get both?

If it is not a big hauler, you shouldn't need it. 1k lbs for the Harley and 2-3k lbs for the trailer? Or you can put it in for peace of mind, watch the temps, watch for problems. The boost is good for troubleshooting. You can tell if the IC leaks, not enough fuel, etc. It helps develope a baseline, if it changes, you know you have a problem, just like the EGT or fuel pressure gauges.
