2006(ish) tdi beetle

Postby ahale2772 » Thu Apr 01, 2010 6:12 am

so i have a prospective job on a tid beetle, i think its a vestyle pump, the owner says that she was driving on the highway when suddenly it reved on its own to 5k before she shut it down, it might have becaused by a pothole? she said she thought she hit one, the car still runs but is starting a bit harder, blows white smoke (smells like diesel not headgasket) i dont really know where to start, vw people say the intakes on those cars are crappy and the egr can plug, im thiking the car went to runaway but i cant think of how a car with fly by wire electronic accelerator pedal would go to runaway....any help? by the way the motor could be toast, blowby/crankcase pressure is consederable  eeekkkkk! im on the verge of telling her to go to vw and trade up

didn't these cars collect oil in the intercooler ?
i thought i read that somewhere ......

if this is true , it might make sense since hitting a pothole caused it to runaway .
