My New 2002 24V Cummins 4x4

Postby Bad93Cummins » Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:27 pm

Just pickup it up today!! Very happy with it. Needs the newer tires put on, gressed up, tps adjusted and fuel screen/fuel filter cleaned/changed. And get the a/c to blow out the vents instead of out the defroster lol And get the front D-shaft put back in.

Body looks good, wheels make it look like a bling wagon though. :yuck:

Yes sir, fixing that tommrow or tuesday

To Do list:
Fix a/c to blow out vents
Get new fuel filter and clean filter screen
Get napa filter(what's the part #, 2290?) as the stock filter has to be clogged as its very dirty!
Greese up everthing and check fluids
Install front driveshaft
Then friday get it tagged and registered
oh and get the new/used tires put on and balanced!

Im thinking the fuel filter and fuel screen and clogged filter is causing the no power problem when cold and at radom times seems to lose power for a couple seconds(no matter where pedel is it doesn't do anything for a few sceonds), cause I had to drive home(with my trailer empty) with O/D off as if I put it in O/D it'd go in but only for a few seconds to a minute then act like I just lost power and start to slow down then id give it more throttle and a few seconds after pushing throttle it'd drop down to gears and start moving agian?? or tps needs adjusted.

Don't talk about Bill like that!

Bad 93, that's a #1 symptom of the VP 44 going bad. You better get a fuel guage on that thing right off the bat. 2 of my friends had their VP's go bad this summer, $1100 to replace it, not counting labor.

Yep sorry to say but that's the dead pedal that occurs on the VP44 trucks. I also had one that did the same thing. I would suggest checking the fuel pressure on it. Most people say you need no higher than 20 and no lower than 10psi at WOT. It can last a while like that or it could die any second. Good luck to you.

The 1 I just pulled the old pump and put the new one on, he did all the rest of it. That was nice. 8) The other one I had to do the whole thing, plus fix leaky fuel line s and assorted other crap. He's gonna pay big time when we barter that one out.

A few that I've checked with factory replacement pumps only pressure up to 12 pounds at the pump. This was thru a new filter. They were replaced with airtex pumps that got it up to 15 thru the filter. Best that I've seen was 19 from the air dog system with the 1/2 inche line from tank to pump to injector pump. The air dog came with its own air fuel filter and as pretty good at keepin its pressures up at all times. Only draw back I seen was the price.
