Anyone ever lengthen the reach on their engine hoist/cherry picker? I'm thinking about buying a length of square tubing to lengthen the reach on my HF 2 ton cherry picker. Not for heavy lifting, more so for moving axles and lightweight stuff up and into pickup beds or the like. I think the piece that accepts the slide in piece with the 'hook' has an ID of ~2.5". The slide in piece on my HF hoist is only 32" long and 3/16" thick walls. When it is stretched out to the furthest point (1/2ton position), there's not much tubing remaining in the 'receiver'. I was thinking of a piece that will be 60" long vs. the 32" at 1/2ton position. But have 1-2 feet still in the receiver instead of a few inches. Thoughts?
