Best air hammer

Postby RCCUMMINS89 » Mon Mar 17, 2014 6:45 pm

I'm in need of an air hammer that'll take out, or at least aid in, taking out some spring bushings. The only 2 I've ever been around in my life are my $10 pos that is like a 2 year old with a plastic hammer  , and a buddy's super expensive Snap-on one that'll bend a frame in 2 seconds if it has to.

I'm hoping I can get a super strong wanna be snap-on for $150 or less.... possible?

This one looks pretty good, a lot cheaper than the stuff Ellis is throwing around too.

FWIW, I've always cut the bolts inside the shackle with a cutoff wheel and burnt the bushings out of the springs with a torch. In your case, since you're not reusing the springs, just cut them and grab some new bolts.

Nah, the deluxe version does but RC seemed to be stressing value so I just checked out the basic model.

Fyi something I forgot to add.....the longer the barrel it has,has proven to be harder hitting.....more stroke but less cycles per second. Yeah yeah I know that sounds like a good joke

And.....Ingersoll rand makes most everyones air tools these days, just buy the more expensive one and it'll work out ok. If you buy the 50$ one, you'll get 50$ of work from it. Nobody buy Campbell housfeild tools ( walmart)and expects superior service from it

Is $150 air hammer just not a quality hammer? Or is that getting into it being worth its weight?

I guess I'm asking..... how much do I need to spend on this thing to make it worth it. My $229 dollar impact gun that I bought 10 years ago can (ok used to) snap 5/8" bolt in half.

In ALL of cd'a and Spokane.... there is not an air hammer for more than $49.99.... so basically there is no such thing as quality unless you order one in.
