S-wrench (injection pump timing wrenches)

Postby SChandler » Tue Apr 08, 2008 10:42 am

Snap On has the 11-13mm combo s-shaped wrench for $34(http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=hand&item_ID=4392&group_ID=551&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog). Sears lists a Gear Wrench brand ratcheting model on their website for $30 (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00999771000P. Anybody know a better place to get them? Harbor Freight does not appear to be carrying them anymore. Also, Snap On lists under their Cummins service tools an injection pump wrench for the injection pump mounting bolts http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=hand&item_ID=10652&group_ID=1288&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog. If I'm going to spend $30 on a wrench to get to the mounting bolts on the injection pump, I might as well get the one designed for it, right? I don't have any means to bend a cheap wrench into the appropriate shape so that is not an option. Thanks.

You don't know anybody with a set of torches? I just used a cheapie wrench, hotted it up and bent it around. Best free tool I ever made! ;-)

About a year after I graduated from high school I had the chance to buy a complete torch/oxy-acetylene welding setup (including tanks) for $150. I didn't have the money so I passed it up. Does that count? Actually, I do know someone who has one or has access to one, however, I didn't think about it until just now and I ordered the Snap On wrench this afternoon. No biggie, it was $31.05 and ground shipping was free.

If you keep your tool bill high enough, you never even notice small purchases like 32 bucks.

CK- that's why one uses tongs or pliers to hold the wrench when heating and bending.

I have an anvil and access to a set of torches. Actually, several torches. Getting a forge later this fall, after I gradiate.
