Air Compressor

Postby meby » Tue Mar 23, 2010 2:24 pm

I have an air compressor that I would like to convert from 220 to 110. How do I do this?
Thanks,
Matt

It might be as simple as taking a little plate off the back of the motor and looking at a little diagram and switching a couple wires around. Check and see if there is a little sheetmetal plate near/at where the wires go into the motor and report back.

I also may be able to help since that is what i do all day every day, well sometimes i get on
here and post stuff but i really need to be workin on motors since there are 9 more than there
were yesterday  .....I HATE ELECTRIC MOTORS , but i guess i'll have to live with
them for a few more years. back to the problem if its made to run on two voltages the nametag will
say ...110/220 and also have two amp ratings. let us know if you need help. ;)

Well let me say this gently, that motor might work for a while but like everything you get what you pay for
and a halfway good motor should cost somewhere around $275-325 thats if its got a 56 frame, if its a 184T
frame your talkin $450-600  . look for an AO smith or marathon or magnetek/century or baldor those are
pretty good quality motors. its unbelievable but i can buy a new puma compressor 6hp? twin stage pump 30gal tank for what i can get just a motor
for sometimes. hope this helps you fellow jetta tdi owner. tell me the amp rating and hp and rpm and frame and i'll price
a motor for you so you don't get skinned. ;)
