5x16’s and an he351?

Postby kyled19 » Wed Jan 16, 2019 8:07 pm

I have someone looking to get rid of some quality 5x16’s for a good price but I’m pretty sure it’s to much injector for my turbo. I have a stock he351 with a pretty much max pump, 3200 gov spring and dennyt stage 2 (I know i know I need to get a hungry diesel pin). The timing is bumped on my pump too but I can’t remember how much. What’s everyone’s opinion on those injectors with my setup? Are they going to be way to hot? Can I tune enough fuel out of it down low to make them work? Or should I just save up and buy 5x12’s? Forgot to mention they are 145 angle SAC. P.S. I would like to go to a billet wheel eventually. And maybe a compound set up with an s472 but that’s way down the road.

You could back the fuel screw out and be fine. I have 6x16s at 300 hp they just smoke all the time.

If you are planning on compounds down the road I'd get the 5x16 if I were you. I ran quality 5x18's and an h1c no problem, in fact, overall they ran cleaner than the 4x12-155 degree spray angle (4 hole 190's) that I pulled out. That was in a 93 as well. Just get a stiffer AFC spring, and re-adjust the pump and your right foot.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Thats kinda what I figured but I just wanted to make sure. I will have to pick them up. Where would one purchase a stiffer afc spring?

I used a green/black AFC spring out of a n/ic pump that's a fair bit stiffer. The hungry diesel also has an aftermarket spring.

Looking for a cheap fuel pin+spring upgrade ? Beware of the low price ones. Just read the reviews of this $60 pin+spring 'upgrade' !

The Hungry Diesel (THD) new product seems a better choice even though it is way more $.
