So im trying to get my truck going so i can dyno in a couple of weeks. I take my truck out for a spin all is good. I build 35psi everything is fine. Then i get a buddy and head out on the hwy. and get got to 85 mph and i rip a boot right in half, im not sure how much boost i was making but it wasn't much more then 40 psi. I know why it ripped and it wasn't because of the boost.

(The reason the boot ripped, because the motor moves and the IC doesn't so something has to give.)

Now i fixed that mess, and when i build 25 to 30 psi i get this high pitched whistle, almost like when you grab a bottom of a balloon and let the air out.

Ive checked every boot, and piping. and i checked the IC and i cant find any leeks. Im not to sure if the noise is coming from the to turbo or what, the shaft has no play and it spins freely. But when the boot ripped it released the air supper fast and made the HX40 spin supper fast (i would imagine) so ????

any ideas would be great.

Definitely a boost leak. You just gotta find it. If you don't have one, make an adapter to go on the turbo inlet and pressurize the system to about 20psi. Don't go over that and be careful the adapter doesn't come off and whack the alternator. You should be able to find it like that. Maybe use some windex or something to spray on the IC and connections if you don't hear it leak.

Check the gasket on your intake plate. Those things whine like hell when they are blown. Also start it up and look at the compressor wheel. If you can see the shaft moving its bent. I have seen that happen when a boot blows under full tilt.

do you possibly not a have a clamp tight enough and its seeping past a boot and whistling like that? just a thought.

so i hooked my compressor to my IC system and, Brian you were right it was the intake horn gaskets. I guess you can only reuse them so many times. i had to shove a big john deere filter in my 5 inch hole where the air filter goes but it worked!
