I have had a set of cooler tubz and a powerstroke intercooler sitting around for over a year. I am close to being able to get the boots and such to install them. The intercooler is 3.25 inch inlet. I found some 3.25 to 3 inch reducing boots that are 3 inches long, and some that are 8 inches long. Will this work with 3 inch long boots, or should I get the 8 inch ones and cut them down if need be? What boots have the rest of you that have this combo used? Thanks!!

This was an issue for me. I solved it by using the Ford boots, which are about 6" long. This problem may become better or worse, depending on how/where you actually install the cooler. Mine's in front of the AC condenser, right behind the grill.

I actually got a set of ford boots with the intercooler, but they have those metal rings on them, and where they are it reduces to a little under 2.5 inches inside. With the ford boots, did you have extra material, or do they need to be that long? Thanks for the input!!

They are little bit, maybe 1" longer than they need to be, but the only others I could find at the time were about a half inch too short. I actually ran them for awhile, but the clamps did not even completely cover them out to the edge of the boot and I was aftraid of blowing them off. A 5" long boot would be perfect for my setup.

I have a 2.5" to 3" adapter boot in one spot. 3" is to damn short! Like Ace said, 2 inches longer would be perfect to get enough on for a good clamp.

Cool, I guess I will get the 8inch ones and trim them. I didnt like the 8 inch ones because the blue/red color, but functionality trumps looks I guess. The 3 inch ones are available in many colors. Thanks for the input. I checked out your pics in your sig, sweet truck.

I looked on their site, but all of them are 3 inches long. Called them, but no answer so far. This place http://www.stylinmotors.com/index.html will make me some 5 inch long ones, but they are $50 a piece! By the time I get this thing in, I will have $150 just in silicone and clamps.......

Still cheaper than Ford. I got lucky and scored one on eBay, but dropped $65 for the other one at the local Ford dealer. :shock:

Frozen boost does not like to answer the phone. I left them a message saying that if they returned my call I would place an order. They called back. I have 1 ford boot on my 89. When I bought the cooler it had 1 boot on it. I bought the rest I needed from frozenboost. I do not like there short boots but it was all I could find and they do work. I had as much or more in clamps and boots as I did the cooler. :evil:

Frozen boost called me back, they only have the 3 inch ones. I am considering the $50 custom ones, just so I dont have any problems with them blowing off, and I really would like them in black. Thanks for the input guys!

So, I'm guessing re enforced silicone radiator hose is no good then? That's what I've got now with only 20psi, but I'm guessing that will be no good once I get to 40 or so eh?

If it holds, don't worry about it. I have heard many people buying bulk hose at a heavy truck store and using it.

$10/ft for 2.5" hose by Dysarts in Hermon. He gave me a 14" hunk for $10 and was able to redo all of mine with it. Seems like good stuff.

I use these boots, their clamps, and other fabrication parts. They are all very handy. Prices are reasonable as well. The couplers and hump hoses are only 3" long but work well for me for over 55psi. You can also buy it in 36" lengths and cut it yourself.
