I want to go with the afe because it is reusable and, in my mind it should filter and flow better than a paper element filter, but I have nothing to back that up with. :lol: I have also been told that you can hear the turbo better through an afe or similar style filter (that's the main reason). 8)

Thanks for the filter input. I bought the NAPA one, it was the only one local I could find. I will need to order in an Outerwears prefilter. And now for some creative mounting. Having access to sheet metal equipment makes it easier.

I can't say I was overly impressed with the K&N filter I used on my gasser. I was smart to use a prefilter on it. It seemed to be nothing more than a dirt magnet than any thing else. It would collect dirt even when it wasn't running so I had to clean it way more often than suggested.

They are supposed to get dirty. They actually filter better the dirtier they get, up to a certain point.

My truck had a k&n on it when I bought it. I tried to properly maintain it, but I still had issue's with small particles of dirt getting inside my intake tube. I haven't had any issue's with my BHAF, neither filter had an outer wear. I was told by Bill at source that the afe filters they sell filter better than a k&n, something like down to 3 micron.

I had the same issue with the K&N. Even though it would rapidly turn into a dirt ball it still let stuff through.

OK, I finally found the BHAF part number list.
It is in the "STICKY: need to know info" thread.

:wrench:
Finally got my truck off the guys rack after a month. Long story.

I have;
BHAF and outerwears pre-filter
M&H M2 fuel pin
Bosch 0432131837 mystery injectors (sold as +40hp)

Once my credit card is payed up again I will order;
4" turbo back exhaust
GDP 60mm compressor upgrade

I'm going to hold off on the gov spring and fuel pump until I see what it does. My luck it will turn into a sprinkler. At least I'll have a clean engine :oops:

I do not plan to change everything at once, so if I have a problem I can narrow it down to the last item. Now is when I wish I had a garage, it's raining. Any precautions other than clean, clean, clean? Any surprises in the pump?

That $20 governor spring is the best investment you'll make. Much better than spending $$ on a fuel pin.

If you do the gov spring make sure to back off the fuel screw until it is behind a lever that is in the pump....if you don't you're in for trouble.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't ruled it out, I just want to see how it does without it.

The governor spring should come before the fuel screw. It's absolutley unreal the difference.

Just what I was afraid of, the pump is leaking at the throttle shaft.
