3rd Gen IC, Who's got one?

Postby PToombs » Sun Dec 05, 2010 6:35 pm

Like the title says, has anyone put a 3rd gen IC in their 1st gen? I did a search and came up empty, but I never have good luck with the search feature.

Your buddie in Kirkwood did in his 89. He says the frame has to be cut and new bumper bracketts made. Give him a call.

i think it may have been over on dtr. if it was somewhere else id search for a link but i refuse to go there anymore.

Yeah, Greg. I didn't realize he had that in it. I'll have to call him. Jeff, probably on DTR, that was his home away from home. Now that he has a '96 he's gone all CompD on us....

I put one in my '92 with the 'new' motor. I cut it down and it fits perfectly. You gotta find some one who's compitent with a TIG machine to weld it up. I also moved the A/C condenser behind the IC. I don't have any readings yet, I still pin the 30lb boost gauge and my truck runs cooler than it ever did with the old clogged up POS that was in it original.

Matchew, what exactly did you cut down? Made it shorter in height? I don't have AC, no worries there. ;)
