Twin piping ideas

Postby 5.9 Fan » Mon Feb 07, 2011 10:41 pm

I am going to be fabbing a twin setup for my 1990, and was wondering if I could see some pictures of some 1st gens with twins to get an idea for piping. I like the look of the low pressure unit on the fender making the cold piping easier, but a 5" down pipe on that setup looks like it would be a pain in the a**. Anyone ever set them up like 2nd or 3rd gen often does, one right over the other? I was planning on mounting a york compressor for onboard air that piggybacks off of the alternator, which would be in the spot that the air filter would go if I had the bigger turbo over the wheel well. Thanks in advance guys

That's a nice looking set up, but where do you put the air filter? Hang it right off the turbo?

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Where the low pressure turbo is sitting in that setup I wouldn't be able to run my onboard air since the compressor needs to sit there

My air compressor is down in the bottom of the fender in front. Right under my air filter. With the Old Smokey mount, you can't even see it.

Will your compressor fit if you had a setup like mine, but maybe move the airfilter lower in the front corner of the engine bay?

Shoot yeah! I'm running a BHAF in there, and it has lots of room. I'll try to remember to shoot a pic tomorrow and post it up.

Finally remembered pics!
1st pic is from the front looking down.

And this is looking across from the battery so you can see what's all there. You can just see the end of the compressor.
