Am I right or dumb?

Postby VanillaGorilla » Fri Jan 06, 2012 2:06 pm

So here's the deal, need injectors cuz one died so why not a set of cool ones right. Planning things out so I don't spend twice, truck is a daily driver that I also tow a car with and plow snow so I want to keep EGT reasonable. Here's my plan on some kind of a budget, you guys tell me if I'm on the right track or not.

93 4x4 auto reg cab: Mods- PS I/C swap, lightly tweaked pump, has a Denny T stg 2 pin, getting 3200 spring, Cooler tubes will go in with the I/C, 4" turbo back this spring along with home built cold air intake. Now the tricky part, what injector will work well and not be outrageous on smoke? I'm thinking SDX 5x12's but not sure and I want to either put a 14 or 16cm hosing on the H1C or swap to maybe an HX40 or super 40. What do you guys think? winner or not? Also would it be wise to run something like a Holley Blue fuel pump and do you guys regulate pumps like that or let them free flow? Thanks everyone, help a dumb mopar kid out lol
93 Reg cab LE 4x4 518AT, 145k and counting, pump turned up,Internal pump mods, Denny T stage 2, non IC DV's, timing bumped up, BD 40hp injectors,BHAF and me-built mandrel bent CAI,4" turbo back, Holley lift pump, new white with gold paint job, recieving more mods to tow the Duster and push this stupid WI snow.

Sounds good, free flow the blue. I would recommend a holley black (a little more flow) and freeflow it.

Super 40 would be better but a regular hx40 would be good aswell. The he351cw would be best and save you from having to buy an exhaust housing .

5x12s and a super40 or HE351 would be a nice setup.

No dummies in here.

Well, I'm pretty dumb.

There was this girl named Ashley at ASU that I had a calculus class with. Talked a couple times. Never asked her out. Next semester I was coming out of another class, she walked right by me, made one moment of eye contact. Didn't run after her. Dumbest thing of my life... :(

Yea, that's a fail moment for sure.

How hard is it to make the HE351 work? That's the turbo that 6.7's use right? And when you say I need to change the hx40 exhaust housing to work are you talking about the T3 vs T4 flange ? I see they sell adapters for that for like $40 so I was thinking that route.

If I think right, the Super40 has a T3 16cm2 housing. No adapter needed on the exhaust side, besides the 4" downpipe.

The intake side may need some silicone adapters to match it up with the IC.

I'm not sure what all is required with the 351.

Also, Begle, not saying anything wasn't nearly as dumb as the Indian burn you gave Anna-Leigh Sanchez.

351 requires 4'' exhaust flange, IC pipping mods and wastegate tacked shut unless you build a wastegate actuator.

It's going to run hot on hills towing.

I guess we should have got some specifics on his trailer, since he said he was just towing one car I figured it'd be easy towing.

I didn't know I'd regret it when I gave Anna-Leigh Sanchez the arm burn, I knew I'd regret not chasing after Ashley Jaeger though...

IMO the 5 x .012's are too big to plow and tow with, even with the bigger turbo. If you step on it hard it will smoke like a pig too. That's where my truck is right now. I had about 6k with the trailer and it was HOTTT!
The Holley Blues don't like diesel fuel for very long, but the Blacks seem to be better.

I see Levi keeps up the Begle love drama also, I thought I was the only one that remembered "dirty" Sanchez!

Plowing with them isn't too bad because our only on them for short bursts. Plus the cold temperatures help. Towing your rarely out of them.

thanks for the replies

What would be a better choice towing a 3400lb car on an open 20ft trailer injector and turbo wise?
I thought I saw someone on here that had the same setup and was towing heavy and running high 14s or something

I ran 9.6's in the 1/8th with 264rwhp, so it doesn't take much. Even with a 4x4, you still have a big weight advantage.

That was more of an example that the power would still be useable, I don't car what it would run lol I have a quick street car that breaks enough parts. Still, what is a good towing setup? Will the hx40 and 5X12's work great just watch it on big hills?
