camshaft upgrade

Postby warhammer92 » Thu Jul 18, 2013 2:43 pm

I'm sure this topic has been discussed already but I'm upgrading my cam to a Hamilton 188/208.what following upgrades do I need or should do.I have 60# springs.I was thinking push rods and tappets.

Current setup up is 64mm turbo non waste gated, 5x16 injectors,m3 pin,4" exhaust, twin ram intake, adjusted pump, marine bowl pistons, head studs, power stroke I/c, and a built a518.

Hoping for 800 torque

I'd look into the Hamilton 188/220............that's what BC's running.

It seems to be the cat's meow from what those who run it seem to say.

A local company put together an engine at 19.0 to 1 compression........with that cam. It can be done..........

Zach should know what'll work, you can also get offset keys to help with valve clearances.

Get 24 valve tappets........as far as pushrods, I'm not sold yet.

But talk with Zach and see if he thinks you'll have the room, you may not. I think you will, but I'm not there to know.

65# of boost with proper tuning (timing)............with a 64mm turbo.............you are WAY passed your 800tq goal.

Personally, I'd check with Zach and see if he thinks it's worth the hassle to go with the 220 over the 208, I can't imagine the gains would be that significant in terms of the possible headaches you could encounter. I never checked my PtV but I had my valves recessed in the head when I had it worked just to be safe.

If it's not a big deal for you to change your clearances go for the 220, if you've already bought your HG and have the head set up I'd play it safe with the 208.

JMHO of course.

We machined the delivery valves, machined the rack for more travel and did something to the timing piston.then had the pump benched.
My gets only get to 1400 at full throttle.
Pump flowed 300cc idk if that's a lot for this pump
