i have done a few hx 40's and 35's alot of pwoerjoke garrets and the several turbos that i have tried on my s 10 they are easy to do just make sure you get the journal bearing in without beatin it up to bad. use a press it makes it easier

i think as long as you put the nut back were it was in the same position it would be balanced

We had some pretty good discussions on doing a turbo rebuild. You are more than welcome to review the following information threads:

i have seen some otr truck turbos from the factory so far out of balance its amazing to me they didnt blow up at idle. these turbos all had over 500000 on them and still felt good with very little play. if these turbos can go that long that far outa balance then im not wastin the time and money to have mine done.

a company that used to cut the back of 60mm compressor wheels so they would fit in H1C housings told me that they stopped because just taking that material off the back was enough to throw it out of balance. the proof was that EVERY OTHER ONE FAILED. i personally think that balance is a good thing. especially on the fastest thing humans have built.

then again, jeff marsh doesnt balance any of his turbos and his stuff flys

flys apart tho too...

lol

not the turbos, he just blows up a lot of motors

that guy is so crazy he wanted to try 30% nitro in his turbo inj alcohol bike this winter

i told him not to... that it would go lean and granade

new motor, first time on the dyno after warming it up he throws 30% at it

it didnt just blow the motor up, it took out the chassis too

almost killed him too

my other buddy squirel was there, he was in charge of shuting down the dyno in case of a problem

when it went he ran out of the dyno run like no tomorrow and left jeff sitting on what was left of the bike

it came apart at 10k and with only the right halve of the motor still there it still ran for over a min longer

lol

thats wild i know when boosted engines go the go in style. when i was runnin a stock block in my s 10 i blew the front two cylinders off and that made a nice fire that cooked everything under the hood

nitro and turbos dont work

period

nitro has to have mixture right or your done

works great with a blower cuz a blower is belt driven off the crank

(so is mech fuel pump)

but with a turbo, when boost comes in mix is gonna go way lean

then on top of that you add the nitro flames inside the ex pipe that over speed the turbo and make it even leaner

thats funny DT

i think i would of been out of there when he was going to try it

anyways back to turbos, my local rebiulders witch i hate him with a passion, told me he wants 550 for a rebiult, since a rebiuld kit only cost 150 and it would be cool to rebiuld my own turbo i think im going to pas on him,

anybody know were to get a rebiuld kit
