BHT3B and BHT3E turbo

Postby Bigfury » Sun Oct 18, 2009 6:57 am

Can someone explain the differences in these two turbos? Found the E model cheap on e-pay,wound like to know if it wound work for a future project. That being installing a set of twins on my 6BT.It 'd be installed under a S300G with a mildly tweaked VE pump and a few other mods. Thank you in advance.

I think they are similar....the trick with either one is finding a small exhaust side housing so it's spooling is 1/2 way decent.

Just recieved athis turbo. It has the #20 cast in the divider on the exhaust side.Eventally like to install on a '90 Dodge p/u with mild pump tweaking,P/S intercooler, injectors(don't know what size),working along side of a BW S300G. Wanting to be able to tow and bet the pants of the neighor's Hummer.

Pull off the compressor housing and measure the large and small diameter of the compressor wheel. Take not of these numbers. Do the same for the turbine wheel. These numbers combined with the 20 cast into the exaust inlet will give you most of the info you need about the turbo. The 20 means it has a 20cm exaust housing. A little tight but might be ok for a lower power quick spooling set of towing turbos. Do you have the 12 or 14cm housing on your s300g?

O.K. removed the housings and measured the best I could.Compressor was 7.3 cm by 10.8cm, turbine 8.1cm by 9.7cm.
On the B/W S300G inside the exhaust housing on the divider is cast 080.If all means the build is heading in the right direction. That is more luck I've ever came across.
Would it be possible to explain some of this? In the mean time the mooking up of my twin shall start. Is it possible to use the stock manifold? If not need to get another manifold first. From researching twins it seems a wastegate it kinda important. How do ya determind what size to use?
Stay tuned This slippery slpoe has just been greased with a pair of power makers.Next is more cash and a set of injectors.Wounder how far this may go????
Thanks for any advice.

With any luck,as slow as I am on my own projects. That should give me enough time to get the head "o" ringed. Just maybe Santa will help out. There'd be nothing like a head job under the Christmas tree.
