spray angle

Postby Remps » Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:08 pm

So I am thinking that there is a mathematical way to figure out how much timing can be run and still keep spray (or most of it)in the bowl by measuring piston distance from TDC at a given amount of timing measured with a timing tool, and by pulling the No.1 injector, still hooked to the injector line, and hand crank the engine and measure the distance from piston to injector seat when the injector fires. Will the injector fire when hand cranking? This would also require piston bowl measurements. Does this make sence to anybody? Is there some other way to figurethis out?I wish I could use more than 5% of my brain! :) Sorry for the 150 word sentence.

24-26° is about it to keep it in the bowl.

Thanks! I am assuming that those numbers are for an I/C piston,145 degree injector, and the fixed timing P pump? How much more timing could be run with a marine piston and still keep spray in the bowl?

Good measure for all years. Depends on which Marine piston and a few other variables.
