Newb looking for easy idea...

Postby scooter450r » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:18 am

Hey guys Im the newb... So kick me while you can! :)

Ok I just bought my first Dodge... Its a 92 250 with a blown trans... The Idea for the truck is to abuse it! Race/pull/snow removal...

After I get the trans in and done where should I start on building power? It has already had the fuel pressure reg reclocked and turned up, K&N and rusted off exhaust under the bed... Id like it to be around 350-400 or more without getting too crazy! Im building front and rear traction bars. I was plannin 5" exhaust. I have a 95 Ford F350 dually with Im guess'n 350HP at the tires... I want it to be alot faster than it... Well let me know what you guys have done in the start to get them up and smoking! Thanks!

What do you mean "reclocked and turned up"?

You can beat that PS with just around 300 at the wheels since it is a LOT (it would way near 5500 lbs...) lighter.

Well thats what te guy told me when I bought it and seeings how I dont really know much about these thats I put on here... Im guess'n he meant the fuel pin was turned or "reclocked" in some peoples words and "turned up" meaning they adjusted it where the jam nut is...

Basicly it looks like I will get a fuel pin and some injectors for now and should have enough power to start with...
We have a exhaust shop so Ill make up my own exhaust and plumbing to get cold to the air filter and after adding a intercooler to my old ford it really aint that hard so I might go with a 6.0 powerstroke intercooler and make my own 3" pipes.... Thats the plan for now.... Oh and building the new tranny

make sure u have enought fuel to ur pump before u start turning things up and using it faster than u can supply it, get some gauges on her too i gaurentee after a few months ur attitude will trun from "beat the hell out of her" to "sell the ford"

I doudt Ill sell the Ford... Its a crew cab 2wd dually that I pull a 30' fifth wheel and 14' car trailer full of toys... We usually have 5 people and Im exactly at the 65' foot in length mark... The dually has its own purpose and have alot of $ tied up in it! Ya I should of maybe did some more homework before buyn but it was a good deal at the time and fit my budget... The Ford runs really good specially of the line! The ford is alot more expensive to build thats for sure!

You can count on 100 extra, 300hp is pretty easy, the next 100 is expensive and very hot egt's if you
don't spray somkind of drugs in it.

I put on a Walbro 392 with a Mallory 4307M regulator set at 16psi.

I saw you have a 92, my list would be:

Gauges-Lift Pump-Tuning-12CM exhaust housing-Injectors-60mm compressor

That should give you about 300-320 and a nice scooting truck.
