nitrous help

Postby rattlebox93 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:26 pm

i am new to the nitrous thing i already had a wet kit my cousin gave me so i went and bought a dry nozzle or needle i guess some call it?.... what jet are you guys running in your setups? the guy sold me a .047 and said it should be around 75hp i figured that to be a fairly safe starting point.... also how far from the inlet of the turbo are you putting your nozzle's? thanks a ton! dj

Two .135 jets :D
To be fair, my bottle pressure is low though. I started out back in the day with a 0.075 jet which would be ok on a gas rig, but that was barley worth 40hp on my rig. Bottle pressure is huge also, you'll gain more power through bottle pressure than you will upping the jets practically. Your bottle pressure should be at about 900-1000psi, any more than 1,200 and your solenoids might not work. Use a bottle heater to get the pressure that high. Nitrous isn't that scary, just make sure you have at least 15psi when you hit it, and don't overspeed your turbo!

Edit: All my nozzles are post turbo in the intake horn area.

hey-Hey!!!,
I saw a neat install on a propane powered Caddy that ran the nitrous nozzle in the turbo housing( two separated by 180 degrees) to blow on the compressor wheel to reduce lag. not sure it would be worth the trouble on our big TDI's though.
cheers,

Not sure on the wastegate size of the 351cw. overspeeding might be a problem with much nitrous. I've ran two small nos solenoids from a plate kit that didnt have jets they threaded in with 1/8 pipe. I ran them wide open into the cac tube. first shot was about 80 hp if i remember. Nitrous is a blast with these motors! try around .090 jet and see what happens hit it at 15psi and watch your boost guage!
