How to make it go fast

It should be faster but Im tryin to put that power down with ladder bars and a 29x10.5 tire or drag radials. Don that pass had a 167mph trap and that was the fastest its ever been due to tuning and other probs it stays in the low 8 range for now. I use an old manual bar type torque wrench and i just ran it down 5lbs at a time with new bolts from cummins and a warmed up engine. i did bust a few stock bolts at 145ftlb.

Curious did you torque them dry or use the factory recommended motor oil coating? Also were the threads chased in the block before assembly? I just can't imagine the bolts holding to that kind of torque, I never could even get close without them stretching and stretching and stretching till they break.

yes the threads were chases and cleaned out with brake clean and i didnt use motor oil i used some stuff called Tap Magic. I did break some of the original head bolts but the new ones took it fine maybe i just got really lucky lol. that has been happenin alot with this truck till the bottom end let go.

Tap Magic is a cutting oil, not a thread lube, that could explain the odd torques. I will have to try some on a bolt sometime to see how much friction diffrence there is. I know if you use neverseeze on a head bolt they wont even come up to rated torque. I know because a guy junked a dt466 block trying that onetime, pulled all the threads out. OOPS!!! lol I got to sell an engine block for that one.

The greater lift with the bigger head is just going to beat itself apart at RPM...

prolly has to do with keeping the pressure up there?

maybe they think you CANT supply it with enough fuel?

bigger better more

thats always been my motto

CK that rotor is AWESOME! but can the internal springs take that much more compression? WHat if you put in stiffer springs in the head? Has anybody tried that? I have a pump here, off-highway, that has stiffer, but smaller, springs than my pump. You think that would increase output pressure to the injectors?
