I'm not sure why it wears faster but titanium keepers wear out faster as well. The crazy performance guys using them have posted on DTR that they do not last any where near the time steel keepers do.

they need to use a good tool steel.
A chromoly steel or chromoly tungsten steel.
stand up to the heat build up, but still machineable

the only benefit to titanium over steel is its lighter. its as light as aluminum but just as strong as steel. so in a diesl were everything is heavy as hell anyway it doesnt make sense to use them. just my thought though.
