Got it running this morning after an all nighter on the charger. Drove it to town...ran great, idled a bit low. Got to the yard shut it off and it wouldn't start back up? Cracked the injectors and it refired...drove back to my side of town, pulled into a shop, idle dropped and it died, no start again...cracked injectors and it fired raised the idle, all seemed good. Drove 5 miles home, shut it off and once again won't start.

What gives? I checked the regulator that came with the pump, the screw adjustment seems very weak...I can move it in or out with NO resistance. Do I even need the reg.? The pump is good for 14psi. Maybe an air leak, vacuum in the tank, or a plugged up pick-up? I lost right now, thought the Blue was great, now I'm hoping this problem from Sunday hasn't cost me another IP!

If the pump puts out 14psi, I'd not do the regulator. That is the sweet spot for the VE pump.

It sounds like air is getting in your system somewhere.

I thought that, too. Tightened everything up, check for the vacuum in the tank possibilty, too. I drove it around the block, shut it off and it won't start again. I really need this truck for work tomorrow and I'm at a loss for what to do. Could my bad lift pump have destroyed my new IP? The lift pump was replaced at the same time as the IP, but was a warrantied Autzone POS before I knew any better.

Update...just went out and tried to start it. Been sitting for about 2 hours, pump should be cool, no? It cranks like there is no fuel. I know if I crack the injectors it will start, eventually. Where could I be getting air from? I tied the new 3/8" line to the outlet side of the tank and when I pull the line at the IP, it pisses fuel like a race horse, can't tell if I'm getting air though.

Got the tank and pick-up cleaned up. Will do the pick-up mod at a later date. The upper screen was covered with a rusty, nasty gunk...all nice and clean inside now. Put everything back together, new Holley Blue, big remote filter, new 3/8" line to the IP (for now, 1/2" later). Ran 1 gallon of Diesel Kleen with 1 gallon #2 in a small fuel tank with a filter on the return. Next day ran 1 gallon diesel with 1 gallon Lucas. The return filter showed that this was working as it began to get clogged as the engine ran. Pulled an injector and it lloked good also.

Now to the bad part. The truck started pretty easily on straight #2 in it's own tank. ran fine down to the Circle K (about a mile) to put 20 gallons of fresh #2 in the tank. Didn't want to go to far without a chase truck, so I pulled up by the house and the engine idled down real low and died. Now I try the cold water thing...nothing...crack injectors and it tries to fire, tighten them up and it won't start. I've gone the full route of what I think might be the cause...I suppose I need to pull the IP and take it to town, let the pump shop look at it??
