I've been internetting for a couple hours tonight and haven't found a solid answer yet. Does anyone have a source for 5/8 hose that's rated to be submerged in diesel?

I can find some marine line, but it's fireproof and whatnot so I figure it's a hose for outside the tank. I'd like it to have some flexibility, but I honestly don't think the non-IC'd pickups float around like the later ones so I don't think that's mandatory.

Couple hours internetting when you could be helping me pull tranny/tcase/engine out of truck. I see how it is.

Just kidding

Also, does anyone have an opinion on the old factory feed line being able to handle the return out of an AFPR? It'll be regulating a Ppump LP, so it won't be too extreme.

I'd leave the factory injector/IP return and run the FPR return through the old inlet, back into it's spot in the tank.

I think its fine, and for a piston pump I think 5/8" pickup is overkill. You are mounting the regulator before the IP inlet correct? I run the same pump but use a small dead head holley reg, and it works fine.

Yeah, I'm running 1/2" lines along the frame, but to keep the intank "safety" stuff and not end up restricting it to 1/8 pipe along the way 5/8 is going to come into play. It actually needs to be 9/16", but I don't even think they make that size in hose. I'll throw some pics of what I'm attempting/going to do no matter what on here in a few hours. I left my phone in my truck last night and it's dead now.

I got ahold of a guy that makes biodiesel hose and he said the clear poly hose from Home Depot or the like will be fine submerged in diesel fuel so that's what I'm gonna grab.

Thanks for the info on the return line, that'll save me some time. 8)

Well, here's the plan:

This ends up being about .620 at the "barb". I could either try to stretch 1/2" over it or clamp 5/8" down on it. Considering how much an air leak would suck there I'm going to go out of my way to get 1/2" to stretch. I drilled it out to 15/32", so so far it's got a .040" restriction from 1/2". I'm making my own bulkhead fitting so I can keep it at 1/2" through there too. I plan on using the truck air brake line once I'm out of the tank, but it's not flexible and there's no easy way to attach it to my valve. I though about heating it and melting it on there, but that stuff just isn't the same once it's been heated that hot...

I'm also going to go out of my way to find one of those Ford Taurus electric fans. Look how much room there is here once that fan is gone.

Also, please keep your grills on your trucks, they're ugly as sin without them.

I've started going back to full sized images in here since I hate making people go to photobucket's site to see them. Any opinions on whether I should go back to thumbnails? I like them, but that site sucks...

I dunno, I just don't like them.

Besides, this is much cheaper than the $xxx.xx that those things cost and I don't have to cut up my tank. We just got our first snow today, so I've got shop time to burn.

I gotcha, Ive got a custom draw straw in mine, Old man before me drilled a hole in the tank, stuck some 1/2 copper tubing in there with a soldered elbow and called it a day.

Guess it all depends if you want it "nice"

Got the radiator and my "IC" out of the way as well. No pics, because it's boring, so you're just gonna have to trust me on it.

This will allow me to get a couple pics of my IC water routing, which I haven't been able to do since I mounted it all up. I'll get them sooner or later.

Thanks, man.

It'd be a lot further along if I hadn't spent the last 3 days on BF3...

I was going to mention a copper pickup, but you found the hose you want. Also a -10 bulkhead from jegs works fine as a sump instead of the Hellmann style. Much cheaper as well. If I ever have the bed off and feel like changing things around its going to be 3/8" push lock with a new pickup tube and call it a day.

Still can't decide on the pickup, I may just ditch all that crap and run an inline screen. I'm still searching for flexible line, that stuff he told me to get turned out to be semi rigid, almost like truck air line. I've got time, so I'll keep looking.

Anyways, [Austin Powers] I've lost my Mojo, baby![/Austin Powers]

Image

And here's the air to water layout.

Image

Image

Starting at the reservoir, it goes down into the pump, then pumps into the top of the heat exchanger, then there's a pipe that comes out of the bottom and up behind it that goes to the lower AC nut you see on the left side of the core support, then out of the AC condenser through the top AC nut and back into the reservoir.

:edit:Ah ha!! Rubber hose rated "30r9" is biodiesel rated and good for submersion. There's also 30r7 and 30r8, but I don't know the specifics of them yet. I'll update when I find some specifics.

:more edits: 30r7 is rated for evap/return line use, and 30r9 has a 150 psi rating, so I'm guessing 30r8 is a midpoint between them.
