That's what I'm thinking too. I searched through your "More Power" thread and found the pics of the runners. They all point towards the back of the head so the more air back there the better. I am worried about it holding air away from the inlet of the #5 runner, but I may just angle it towards towards the outside and back to try to get around that.

honestly, i would be more worried about #1, its not only blocked by that casting, but by the angle of the runner

Actually, I found a major flaw in my cutoff plan. Most guillotines are made for the suction side. I doubt I'll find any style that will work and still seal in 50+ psi when it's open.

Also, I just talked to Ryan at Hamilton Cams and he said the 188's will be in very soon, as in within the next few days. If your waiting on one, and happen to be reading this, give them a call and check, or be expecting a call from them soon if you're on the list.

Levi, add a grid heater to the rear port. ;)

Alex, as far as I know the updated pump lobe never got off the ground. Even if it did I'm not too concerned with it. My truck is a driver not a racer, I have no real need for anything like that.

Pete, I've only got one grid, so I was looking into a way to get my plan done with what I have. My crap is usually thrown together out of what I have laying around, otherwise it wouldn't be worth pursuing. I could use the grid on the rear port, but I'm working on the assumption that the rear cylinders need their air and I'm going to do what I can to get it for them.

So, here's where I stand tonight. I got the aftercooled lines thrown on to see how it all fits:
The cowbell, in all it's former glory, now nothing more than a blackboard.

And the new vane vacuum pump and associated throttle bracketry:

the lines look home bent? maybe?

I like the distributor head order drawing on the "cowbell" I have the same on the underside of my hood 8)

and I like the throttle bracket, I cut my stock bracket down so it only goes down enough to hold my mount, but I would like to have it completely free like that.

what are your plans? make a new intake then do the HG and cam when they come? I cant wait to see how U like the 188, I bumped my timing the other night, My truck is an animal in the rpm's now cant wait for more fuel 8)

Those lines are hella whAt? up, I think the guy had them stashed under a stack of tires or something. That forward mount for them is supposed to be one hole back, but since I plan to run the grid there I had to free it up. Nothing rubs, but I'll be tweaking on them here and there to make sure.

That bracket is actually a stock setup from an IC'd truck. It bolts up under the manifold and my truck already had tapped holes there for it. I kept my pump brace down low, since it didn't have the extra piece the IC'd one had, but it's a cutoff wheel away from being the exact same as mine.

I plan on finishing up all the cam and stud work before I start on the intake, though with my attention span that probably won't be what happens.

I've always heard people talking about their truck smoking the tires in 3rd and whatnot, but never believed it. You can see in my vid that my truck barely carries the tire 1/4 of the way through 2nd gear, and that's with no posi. It's getting jumped a tooth, and once I'm sure the new HG is seated I'll start playing with it and seeing how much timing it enjoys.

mines not jumped, but its literally touching the head. I might ask zach to confirm, but it seems like the cam would like even more timing than what I'm giving it. at anything over 2800 rpm the truck hits a wall, like its burning every drop of fuel and asking for more.

If you're still running the 12cm housing on your HX with no mods, you might just be choking it out. Supposedly drive pressure is a concern with things that move air like these cams and aftermarket heads, so you may just be backing things up. Have you had any thoughts on porting the 'gate or just drilling through to both sides?

my wastegate is wired shut

say if I floor it.... it belches black, power comes on reaaaallllll hard, smoke clears, it pulls a bit more, rpm's start getting up there, and then it backs off (suddenly). It kind of leaves you thinking "wait what?"

Ive got a spare harmonic balancer sittin on my bence with magnets glued onto it ready for a tach install.... might do that tomorro, and see where its falling flat

Try opening it up, man. drill through it, so it can vet both sides and pull the hose off of it, let drive pressure open it. Surely your drive pressure is getting up there with that little housing and nowhere to go, right? :/

Bumping to say that anyone with any thoughts/ideas should feel free to throw them in here. As I told Pete, I'm working with what I've got for the most part, but if you see anything stupid or want to see anything ridiculous let me know and it may happen. I've got plenty of scrap steel and time. 8)

Also, Alex, that bracket won't fit with non IC'd lines. It may with some clearancing(sp?), like I already did on that one, but the IC'd lines follow a different path up that part of the head.

Heh, if you look real hard at my pic, you can see where I did that on my bracket. I was judging off the wrong hear under the head and just threw it in the mill and went to town. I started putting it on and found the rear hole for it.
