Thats funny that you guys have heard of Jeff Prince. He is my best friends uncle, when we get lost on something our last resort is "call Jeff, he'll know" ;)

His dually is very streetable, if you stay in Corpus Christi for a week you will see it driving around.

Yeah, "weekly driver" would have been more correct I am sure, but daily driver sounds better, I think we should make him drive it every day next week :D

And despite being a big huge magazine in LA, I'm from a small town, so I look for the "little guys" that are out there running fast and breaking stuff.

Speaking of which, time to see if I can break my truck with nitrous.

You are correct about the weekly vs. daily thing, but his actual daily driver "farm truck" is a 600hp Cummins as well

If you like small town guys, you'd like Jeff, he is a farmer after all 8)

I'll stop getting off subject now, sorry for the detour

Hey just happened to be reading this thread and noticed talk about 37 lbs of boost, somewhere I heard that the first gen heads cant handle much more than about 35 lbs of boost before head gasket scare, what is your take on this, and if you do run close to 40 lbs if the head gasket could handle does it shortlife the motor, im running around 30 and love it but would like more, any info would be awesome

Yeah I heard 35 too, but I haven't fixed my KDP yet, so what the heck, might as well live dangerously in multiple ways  about 35-45 is what they will take, I have a stock exhaust side housing on mine so my drive pressure should be lower.....I asked KTA about it and he said he's seen 40+ live for a long time on a stock housing. Not so sure about the head gasket, guess I'll find out when it goes........probably later today when I try a .070 jet of nitrous ;)

So retourqe the head gaskets and run about 40, I would deffinetely be happy with that, my truck only has 100,000 miles on it but I want it to be around for anther 2 or 300,000 miles so I may keep it around 40 and be conservative about letting it warm up and egt. My dads is 256000 on the ticker would you suggest he be able to run 40 with that kind of mileage or should he keep it arount the 28-30 that he is running

Most guys seem to retorque to about 125 lb-ft, and mark all the bolts. If one bolt turns more than the rest, it could be stretching and needs to be replaced. The key is having an even clamping force all around. I've talked to a couple people who ran 60+psi boost AND nitrous on stock headgaskets and retorqued bolts.

Oh and I tried the nitrous tonight and it didn't seem like it did much. My bottle pressure was only like 600psi though, so hopefully that will be the problem. Time to get a bottle heater I guess!
