I know what JQ is going through, the friggin' granolas and yuppies complained all of our raceways and dragstrips here in southern california away. It might be hard to find a place to race.

Naaaah, no time, I just hammered it on the freeway from a stop up to about 90mph then let off. Not going back to the track till I have a driveshaft loop so I can run slicks, and until I get the right darn nitrous nozzle and a bottle warmer.

Yeah nothin like a population of about 10 million (LA area) to ruin your fun...Fontana only seems like it is open for test n tune once every few months, and the other nearest 1/4 mile track is 120 miles away and over a mountain. Irwindale (1/8th mile) is ok if you can get there early and avoid the 300 cars that will show up by 8pm. Heck with a 3spd I don't need more than an 1/8th anyhow ;)

Dangit... OK... $500 for the Airdog and a regulator. Ditch the front locker... Miller can take care of that.

bump.....ok here in a month or so the "diesel season" should be slowing down, and I'll have a chance to work on my own chit  I plan on jumping from 300rwhp to a hot and smoky 400rwhp, then spraying to 500 and hoping that the stock retorqued headbolts and 727 trans holds together.

Here are the mods up to now:
BHAF
4-inch exhaust after downpipe
DDP fuel pin
Goerend Converter
DDP4+ injectors

Next:
HTT 60mm compressor upgrade
120gph liftpump (Carter "race" pump)
KTA 14mm head
fuel pressure gauge (gotta keep that 14mm alive)

I'm leaving the stock 18.5 housing since I am non-wastegated, right now my best on the dyno was 301/628 with 30psi of boost. I see 36-37 on the street. So what do ya guys think, will I hit 400/800 on fuel?

For 400 fuel only you'll need a bigger turbo, move away from any h1c/hx35 frame hybrid. Forget about it if you don't intercool it.

Ok, I've finally come up with a short term goal for the project. Still no idea how far I'll go with this thing in the long term. For short term, I'm going to see how far I can go with the stock parts, meaning long block, ve pump, and turbo. Going to do a compressor upgrade, put the 14mm h/r on, put in a fuel system, wrench down the head bolts, wastegate it, then spray it. I'm hoping for 500rwhp with nitrous on the stock head gasket through the 727 trans. I'm also thinking of putting a gear vendors OD in it to see how it helps on fuel economy I might switch to a 47rh, but the gear vendors would be cool for the 4.11 geared 5spd guys to see what kind of rpm drop/mileage gain they could get. Looking for 12s down the strip which should be more than feasable with a locker and slicks.

In addition to a locker and slicks, you might want to consider some home brew traction bars to help plant it and avoid spring wrap. 12's are going to require an overdrive gear. The Gear Vendors would be cool but so would a 47rh with a stand alone controller for the trans and converter lock-up.

this might be a dumb question but over all how fast do you need to go to hit the 12 second mark

About 105mph since I won't be able to 60ft like the 4wds...which means an OD even with 33 inch slicks, since I don't want to turn too many rpm because of the 14mm h/r.

Torqued the headbolts today. First tried 115lb-ft while the engine was hot but the first bolt we tried was turning pretty far. So we let the engine sit for about 2hrs then tried it again. First to 100lb-ft, then marked em. Some were already at 100 lb-ft. Then went to 110, 115, then 120 lb-ft then stopped. No bolt turned more than about a quarter turn (90 degrees) to get from 100 to 120lb-ft. Is this normal? The way some people were talking I thought they were clamped down a full turn or more.

thanks

Jason

Allright, head bolts torqued, fuel turned to the moon, compressor upgrade, and a .090 nitrous jet. Dyno this thursday, old numbers were 301/628. I'm going to guess 330/650 on motor and 405/800 on nitrous 8)
