Oh btw, ford69557ci I've never been one to back down from a race, so I'd be up for it if I could find a way to get to wherever you are, our you could come out to CA :D What do you have a 557 in? I have a lil ol 355 Nova I play with too.

Why would you take it out? I would think any gain boost would be cancled out by not being able to cool it as easy. Water/meth is great, but why wouldn't you want both? At least you have one method thats failsafe.

the boost just comes a little quicker and you gain a few psi without it thats why most ma effort engines dont run one

jq i used to hav e 69 ford with a 557 and a stupid amount of the bottle. ow i have a s10 with a sb2.2 headed small block and a 105mm turbo but i only run that on the strreet for fun. but if i could get my truck in DP mag i would be happy to go up for a race or without bein in it lol. i just wnna run somebody with my bodystyle of truck that has done somewhere close to what i have. the only thing around my afrea diesel performance wise is people that think an edeg box is hotrod so i dont have alot of competition.

Finally got some gauges, hitting about 28psi and 1400 degrees on the pyro. Not sure why EGTs are so low (non intercooled truck)? Testing was in cool air at sea level which I am sure helps......

you will only see higher is you got some pods, if your planning to make this a non ic then port and polish the head, and get a water meth kit, and you can through in some nice size injectors and you wont have a problem

with the set up you have you should never see over 1400 even when romping on it, oh and dont leave it there to long

1500* :hs: Wow, Yeah don't leave it there for two long, Remember these first gens don't have the sophisticated oil cooling jets/piston that the newer truck do. Yes ours truck spray oil on the bottom of the piston... just not to the extend of the newer ones.

I get scared when my pyro climbs past 1250*........(and is one of the reason I'm putting a intercooler in)but then again my truck spend a lot more time on the road pulling then it dose doing short blast of fun!

The 1st gen has the same piston oil coolers as any 5.9cummins up till the common rails in 2003.

Yeah that's the one's
I guess I'm just paranoid but my pyro go from yellow to read at 1250* and i can't afford to replace any part of the eng...........always looking for a safety buffer.
When I'm pulling a hill I'm always watching the pyro and adj my foot accordingly......................................I don't thing i have ever look at my pyro going down the track. mybe I'm seeing that type of EGT....but i don't thing so(stock injectors and all)

KTA you have had to damage a piston or two in you years of search for power in these first gens.
How high can you go with out damage one of the piston on our trucks......say.....a 1/4 mile at a time. of heat...................

Flash.

When my truck was single turboed it would regularly see 1800deg on the strip. I have never melted a piston. Your injectors, timing, and overall fueling can effect how much heat the piston can take, and of course how long the heat lasts 10 sec wont kill a piston but 30 will!

KTA,
Thanks for your opinion.

Looking forward to seeing some new E.T. numbers this summer with slicks :thumright:

There is obviously a lot E.T. left at the starting line, and not being put to the ground, considering your mph is several more then GLHS, but his E.T. is quicker.
It would be a grate race between the two of yeah. ;)
