I bet the old man laughed his ass off all morning watching you do that. I'm sure he's BTDT with a hangover too, and I can see the humor in it myself!

Why'd you pull the ROPS? I figure you're shipping it, but it's not too tall with it on. :?

Weight more than anything. We know it's not heavy enough to get us in trouble once the blade's off, but they don't take any chances.

No they don't, they just hand out high-dollar tickets.
NEVER have I heard of ANYONE getting a testicle cleaning from DOT, but you ALWAYS hear about people getting an ASSREAMING.

Just drive a livestock set-up, all but the most insistent "government revenuers" steer clear from inspecting those.

HA!

I honestly don't deal with them much, but seeing some of the trucks that haul out of our place I really think they're not tough enough. That '9 is only like 40 tons or something, and I figure once we've got the ROPS and blade of it'll be around 30. We barely need an overweight permit to haul 30 tons, so I don't know how we're gonna play it out yet.

We may just wait for an innocent Sunday morning.

Leave around midnight on Saturday night/Sunday Morning.
The cops are more interested in would be drunk drivers, than someone moving an old POS on a trailer.
If you're early to the drop point, stop at a truck stop and goof off, or bring a blankie and tickie and catch some Zs.

When I moved cars and trucks for hire, I had the LEAST troubles in the wee hours of the morning.
Even Chicago, Illinois is dead, dead, dead by 3AM, on the interstate.

I once had a DOT Officer (teasingly) comment that I was "avoiding scale stops by running at night".
I usually do it because most of the time I run 400 miles or more and to get to people at a decent time during business hours, I have to run at night. It's also better on tires, bearings and engines to run after dark.
Leave Lincoln at midnight (CST), plenty of time to dawdle around a bit, and arrive in Denver, 8+ hours later, by 10AM (CST).

Now you know why they knew my name.

I hate to take this any farther off course, but since Jesse won't leave me alone while I'm trying to work:

Maybe he "likes" you. After all, you're the one out chasing transvestites and the one getting the gay jokes. ;)

The transvestites chase me, just look at Hineman.

I would throw some goodies at it, but I think getting the AC functional is going to be a pretty big priority. Considering some idiot threw out my entire system to make an aftercooler setup work, I'm gonna have a pretty penny in parts and pieces for that stuff. Besides, I'm gonna try to keep the 1/2 ton leaves in the back. If they don't get twisted to pieces, I'm hoping they smooth out the ride enough.

Sweet! No wrapping problems or anything? I'm going to try to move the swaybar from the front to the rear, since it won't fit with the Cummins and it flops around like a walrus as it sits.

I can't wait to get into the chassis stuff, besides making nw intake piping it's my favorite thing to do. :D

Hopefully you're better at the chassis stuff than the intake piping.
