Leak Opposite KSB AGAIN!!!???

Postby JonathanFleguel » Sat Mar 19, 2011 5:50 am

ok so later in the fall i was driving to work and i smelt diesel so i pulld off the road and it was leaking enough diesel to make you puke so i shut it down and on further inspection found it was the oring opposite the injection pump. So i trailered it home took the pump off did that oring and a few others and put the pump back on everything went perfect.

so now its early spring i pull into my girlfriends collage (2 1/2 hours away from home) and i smelt diesel so i took a peek under the hood and again it wasent just leaking it was coming out with force from the same spot.

now i can fix it but my theory is "fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me" so either what did i do wrong or is my case pressure to high possibly? my pump is turned up all the way and i have a low pressure piston pump truck runs fantastic and has gobs of power but is it putting to much pressure on the pump trying to push so much through stock injecters. or... did i goof on installing the oring and it failed prematurally. any help as all ways is greatly appreciated thanks

Are you sure it's a low pressure piston pump? What kind of fuel pressure are you running?

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

it is on the motor side of the pump under an inspection plate and its a green oring. i bought the lift pump as a kit from diesel auto power so i am assuming it is low pressure but i do not have a guage i have been meaning to but have not yet.

Sounds to me like you better get a gauge on it before it eats another o-ring. It's a PITA to pull the pump. Again. And again. And again. ;)
