Return line question

Postby Remps » Wed Apr 20, 2011 4:10 pm

How are you guys hooking up the return line with regulated lift pumps? Just tee into the factory return, or run a separate return line?

Anything wrong with returning it to the inlet side of the pump?

I would use a dedicated return and go to the vent hose on the filler neck. I would not tap into anything thats already there.

not the greatest Idea to eliminate your return by feeding it into the inlet, return also acts as a air blead if the pump cavitates.

I made a bigger line coming from the regulator, and just T'ed the IP's return back in

Ok, thanks guys. I will put a tee in the vent hose and return it there. Lift pump on the 93 took a dump, so I guess I will put the 7.3 fuel pump and 15 psi relief valve on the 93 tmo. Steve.

Got the 7.3 fuel pump mounted and the relief valve teed into the vent hose a few days ago. Initially it was running 8-9 psi, and would suck it down to 0 by 15 lbs of boost. Adjusted the relief valve to 20 psi today, and now it'll hold 17 psi wide open. Smokes a little less at wot as well. I may turn the pressure down a little when the fuel filter gets replaced next week, as well as a section of 1/4" fuel line I had to use at the time. Will change it to 5/16", not much point in going bigger as the fuel pump fittings are 5/16". I'm sure bigger injectors will drop the pressure, at which point I will upgrade the draw straw and fuel pump inlet line and see how that goes. :) Oh, and I can't fuel the truck up with the fuel pump on anymore, just sprays back all over the place.

60 gph at 0 psi, 30 gph at 70 psi is what I read somewhere..
