The 727s arent too bad, but you're turning quite a few more rev's than I was in my 4.10 5spd truck (real close in final ratio). You will have some slip in the torque convertor, but should be <150rpm if you have a good convertor. Get the Goerend Bros TC in there and see how you like it.

Adding an OD will (theoretically) drop your RPM to 1587 @ 65mph. A little lower than ideal, but an improvement over now. But with the auto, it will likely be more like 1700, which is the sweet spot for empty hwy MPGs.

K&N isnt big enough to be a BHAF, as it is only stock size. BHAF is almost twice the filter size the stocker is. Plus, it filters better than the K&N. (so do most windowe screens  ) Which reminds me, check your intake hose every oil change and clean the dust off it. K&Ns work fine on naturally aspirated engines (had one in a 6.9 Ford, and it stayed clean as a whistle), but not so well on turboed engines in certain areas of the continent.

Before buying a turbo, decide how much power you want, get the injectors you need to get there, and then buy enough turbo to feed the injectors. Do it once, and you will be money ahead. This assumes, of course, that you buy new, and cant get your money back out of stuff when you upgrade. If you buy good used, you can break even, and the upgrading wont cost you as much in the long run.

ebay, Scheid's, most other diesel performance shops, truck shops, etc, etc. Almost anywhere that sells stuff for diesels will either have it or be able to get it.

Expect to pay $40- 100, no joke. The prices vary that much.

NAPA also. I think the part # might be around here someplace. Try a search, or look in the "parts" section.

NAPA # 6314 is one thats inclosed and could be used as the filter and heatshield all in one. You have to be a little creative with your pocketknife though

Got the part # for the napa filter. Thanks guys!

My plans for now are to get the intercooler in and do the 4" exhaust and BHAF and intake. Before I go any further I will be getting some guages in this thing. After that I will try to get the TC. So I know where Im goin with all these things, after that I want to do turbo and injectors. Id like to get the most power I can out of this thing without compromising driveability/towability. Ive been doing alot of studying on injectors, I cant figure out which ones would be best for me. Suggetions?

On that napa filter how did you make it a larger connection to the tube that runs to the turbo? My stock airbox has a larger hole than the napa filter.

This weekend I did a mild grind to my fuel pin, mounted my BHAF, and got rid of my muffler. WOW!! This thing runs good, and the turbo whistle is awesome! I will get some pics of my work up soon, and I will be ordering guages and piping for the intercooler soon.

I installed my guages this weekend. I went with isspro's. $275 to my door for pyro, boost, and tranny temp with top of dash pod from Diesel Manor. Ive got my fuel pin ground as far as I can, starwheel bottomed, power screw maxed, and smoke screw a couple turns. The most boost I get is 20psi and I think I saw egt's hit 1100. Does this sound normal? Heres a pic of the guages.

Nice work. I would think you should be seeing a little more boost then that.
