NEW ERA VS PODS VS DDP

Postby NYCEGUY01 » Tue Sep 11, 2007 5:47 pm

OK Guys Im currently running PODS. They make good power ( 385 as of last sat morning ) but are real smoky and hot.

Ive been told several different things from different shops.

How do new era 435 and 370 compare to pods ??

How about the ddp's ??

Is there a real good off the shelf option or do I need to do a whole bunch more research and roll the dice on a custom set. ??

Im really looking for 425-450 USUABLE hp. ( who isnt right. lol )

I know turbo selection plays a huge part in all this but Im currently working on that as well.

OK lets have it experts.

What other mods do you have? That makes a difference too. You should fill out your sig, that helps us.
I made 366 with a set of 370's 2 weeks ago. I also have the HTT Stage IV kit. It smokes, but clears up when it spools way up. I can drive it so it barely smokes at all. (But it's hard  ) EGT's are up pretty good too. I haven't hooked up to the trailer to see how hot it can get, and not sure I want to.

Ok maybe my post was a little vague.

Ive been told pods are 4x14 370's are 4x12 and 435's are 5x14.

Is that correct ??

The big question I have is how does your motor react to these different sticks.

I am assuming that both the 370 and 435's are better as far as pattern etc.

Bieng as they are setup more correctly for our pistons the 370's with smaller holes could actually perform better in the real world than pods.

Obviously the 435's have bigger holes so Im thinking more fuel ?
How do they run in the real world. Right now I seem to get enough fuel but it runs high egt's and has lots of smoke.

Is this because of the incorrect spray pattern of the pod ???

Will the 435's just give me more fuel along with more smoke etc.. or will the design of the inj help out enough to warrant the swap.

More than likely I will be staying with the current HTT HTBG turbo and I want a good setup for all types of driving.

I can always turn off the valet for towing etc..

Stock 370's are 5x .012". I know nothing about 435's as they are some home made injector so I don't know what its spray pattern is. 370's are smaller than POd's so they run a bit less heat and power, neither has the correct spray angle for the stock piston so they both haze. Th edm's like Bill gilbert has smoke less and make more power than any of the above injectors. 8)

1) yes, you were (jk, i knew what you were askin)

2) react? its simple, bigger cross sectional area flows more fuel - more power and more smoke, unless you have an abundance of air

3) dont think they are - my pods do just fine (and i just went back to them from 5x12's) will have some cuztom ones done soon tho...

4) could have..., i thought they wo9uld, but they dont

5) i dont think there is anything wrong with the pattern. they haze less than the edms did!

6) yes, yes, and no. not if you are looking for less smoke. they will make more power tho

7) dont we all...more than likely you will end up sending that thing in for a bigger compressor one day

8 ) not once you remove the afc lever and you will, trust me you will...lol
